The Stroud Branch recently celebrated its tenth birthday. The branch covers not only Stroud itself, but also Stonehouse, Dursley, Painswick, Nailsworth, Wotton Under Edge and the surrounding areas. Last year Stroud Cats Protection successfully rescued and 242 cats of which 208 were re-homed. The work is all carried out by volunteers on top of their full time jobs and domestic responsibilities. It is very worthwhile work even though some of the cats' stories are truly heart breaking.
The Stroud Cats Protection gets its funding from several sources. We receive some straight donations of money and we take our stand to various local fetes and shows selling Cats Protection goods, bric-a-brac or running tombolas etc. We have several collections a year outside supermarkets, and DIY/Garden Centres etc. For example Sainsbury’s, the Co-op, Focus, Waitrose and Wyevale have all kindly allowed us to collect outside their stores.
A lot of the rescued cats pass through the hands of our dedicated band of 7 fosterers. The cats are housed in a total of 12 pens in their gardens.
We are desperately short of volunteers. If you live in the Stroud Area & have some time to spare, please contact us.
Last Year we re-homed 208 cats/kittens & paid for almost all of them to have some form of veterinary treatment.
